Booting is the process of loading and starting the operating system. A boot sequence is the initial set of operations that the computer performs when power is switched on. BIOS of the computer does this job. A modern PC BIOS supports booting from various devices, typically a local hard disk drive (or one of several partitions on such a disk), an optical disc drive, a USB device (flash drive, hard disk drive, optical disc drive, etc.)
